I, Steve Wallis, am the editor of Revolutionary Platform News and will produce new editioms of this newsletter from time to time. I will produce copies for distribution by myself and other contacts, particularly those in the Scottish Socialist Party. [I am getting 5,000 copies of each edition professionally printed (in colour on the front and black and white on the back, on recycled paper) as well as producing a small number using my printer or a photocopier.]
Each edition of the newsletter is available in colour, black-and-white or mixed (front page colour) versions, in both Micro$oft Word and PDF (suitable for Adobe Acrobat) formats, for viewing on-line or printing out. Note that the Revolutionary Platform News heading uses a fairly obscure font which is not recognised by Word on some computers, so I recommend downloading PDF versions. I encourage you to use recycled paper, but recognise that many photocopying places do not offer such paper (and I would nevertheless welcome people producing and distributing copies on non-recycled paper). It is better to say that the paper is recycled when it is, but obviously important not to lie! I have therefore produced separate versions suitable for recycled paper and paper from trees.
The first two editions were entirely written by myself, but I would welcome articles written by other people for further editions of Revolutionary Platform News. Email or post suggestions to me; my contact details are shown above.
The following editions of the newsletter are currently downloadable:
- Number 1 – This edition of the newsletter urges a worldwide general strike at the time of the next G8 summit. The front page also plugs Galaxia, my revolutionary socialist band who I am currently recruiting musicians/singers for. The back contains an article on a possible crisis looming in the Socialist Workers Party, due to the fact that all 16 councillors elected in the English lcal elections were Asian (some businessmen liable to sell out and no mmebers of the SWP); an edited version of the article appeared in the Weekly Worker newsletter under the heading “Satisfied?”Click here to browse the newsletter in HTML format.
- Colour, recycled – PDF and Word formats.
- Black-and-white, recycled –PDF and Word formats.
- Mixed, recycled – PDF and Word formats.
- Colour, trees – PDF and Word formats.
- Black-and-white, trees – PDF and Word formats.
- Mixed, trees – PDF and Word formats.
- Number 2 – This edition of the newsletter explains the split in the Scottish Socialist Party, triggered by the Tommy Sheridan defamation trial and leading to the launch of Solidarity: Scotland’s Socialist Movement. In my view, the main cause for the split, and the main reason for the SSP’s internal difficulties in recent years, has been infiltration by conspriatorial organisations on the side of big business, and many of those infiltrators (including all within the Socialist Worker platform) have left to join Solidarity. The newsletter also contains arguments against the SSP’s 50:50 rule, which is supposed to ensure gender equality but would stop Rosie Kane, the most popular SSP Member of the Scottish Parliament, from topping the Glasgow list for the 2007 elections. I will attempt to get that rule dropped at the SSP’s next conference in October 2006. Click here to browse the newsletter in HTML format.
